This isn‘t the sort of thing I ever anticipated having to say when I took over HugePrints and entered this new era of my life, but this is the world we’re in now, for now.
I’m writing this while watching a live stream of the governor of Illinois announce that we are entering a stay-at-home order due to the COVID19 situation. I have a lot of confusing feelings right now, but first I will say this: HugePrints will be following these order and be closed until the order is lifted. As the order goes into effect tomorrow evening, we will do our best to complete and ship out as many orders as we can before this time. We apologize in advance for any orders that are delayed due to this. If you have a hard deadline that needs to be met, please let us know immediately so we can advise you on either when to expect your order, or recommend another source for printing that we recommend using.
To be honest, I’m scared. I came into 2020 with high hopes, with a new logo that I’m slowly rolling out, trying to expand our capabilities, and a desire to grow and hire more good people to provide good products to businesses and associations of all kinds. This shut down until April 7th has the potential to destroy not only those optimistic thoughts and everything else I have built up. But it doesn’t have to.
While I might be required to stay home, away from my printers and other equipment, I want to take full advantage of that time away to do more. More learning about more materials and processes. More learning about how to grow my business. More learning how to be a leader. More time to work on graphic design projects, more time to connect with my customers, and more time to maybe find new ones. That’s all just my way to say that I’ll still be answering phone calls and emails and doing everything I can to survive as a small business owner, and I’m sure everyone else in this situation is doing.
When we can finally all go back to work and to our normal lives, I want to be ready to hit the ground running. I’ll take some of this time to rest and shake off some of the tiredness and fatigue that comes from the long days. I’ll be eager to see you all and print for days after that. And I’ll be spending plenty of time thinking, not big thoughts, but HUGE thoughts.
To all of you, be safe and be smart. We will get through this and have stories to tell. I wish everyone luck on getting through this and may you all have HUGE success afterwards.
Thank you.
